My Jalira deck works by summoning tokens and sacrificing them, then whipping huge monsters like Darksteel Colossus and Ancient Stone Idol, quirky beefcakes like Star Whale, big bodies with extra effects like Scourge of the Fleets, Phyrexian Ingester, and Sphinx of the Second Sun, and big ol fish like Stormtide Leviathan. (The deck would probably benefit from Eldrazi cards, but I find myself bored by them, so only two make an appearance)
Cards like Waterbender's Restoration, Extravagant Replication and Thassa, Deep-Dwelling repeatedly flickering your Aether Channeler and Riftwing Cloudskate gives you an incredible advantage because your opponents have to recast the same creature over and over (this is trickier in our era of powerful enters abilities, but still works)
Whats more is that players can play Kida, Royal Warrior exerted - meaning that they can immediately put her in front of whatever baby character they want protecting, stopping their opponent from banishing them on their next turn and keeping them alive for that little bit longer
Persist is more or less the same thing, but as a spell
