I think that Goblin Banneret is a good choice for the deck as it can pump itself to get in extra damage while also pumping up other creatures thanks to its Mentor ability

You'll have to cast a few creatures with greater power than one, then two, and maybe even three, but once you do, Pollywog Prodigy is going to start drawing cards like it's going out of style

Its also a helpful tool to teach newer players that life is a resource

Corners on subsequent sets would be modeled after the Beta-style corners, which proved unfortunate for the Alpha cards in Magic s early history
